DRIVING AND THE LAW

Your ability to drive safely is dependant on good vision.
At Noakes Habermehl & Kerr we offer a wide range of services
related to driving.

UK law states that you must be able to read a number plate in daylight hours from a distance of 67 feet or 20.5 meters.

Although we all have to prove this when applying for our initial driving licences, your vision can change, and maintaining good vision is a legal requirement for safe driving.

Our optometrists will advise you during an eye examination if you require glasses for driving or if your current glasses need to be updated. Our qualified dispensing opticians can also discuss the benefits of special coatings and tints that can improve your visual perception when driving at night or during sunny days.

ANTI-REFLECTION COATINGS

All of the lenses we supply are available with this special coating. The improvements in your visual perception can be enormous since all surface reflections are removed and the effects of glare greatly reduced. This coating is especially effective when driving at night.

Other benefits are found when working in artificial lighting, viewing computer screen and not to forget the added cosmetic advantage that you lenses now longer appear to reflect light.

POLARISING FILTERS

During daylight and especially when it's sunny the use of polarised sunglasses can greatly improve your driving experience by removing a lot of the surface and vehicle reflections that can often distract you from the road.

We offer a wide range of lens options available as polarised sunglass lenses. Some of our lenses are also available with high contrast filters to further improve your visual perception when driving.

ADVANCED DRIVING LENSES

As part of our ongoing commitment to offering our client's the latest technology, Noakes Habermehl & Kerr now supply the new "Drivewear" lenses, specifically designed for driving.

DVLA SCREENING

As part of the national screening program, Noakes & Habermehl provide DVLA screening for clients that have received assessment requests. The test involves a visual fields assessment and is available at several of our practices by appointment only.
