At Noakes Habermehl & Kerr we recognise the importance of early diagnosis. Retinal imaging provides us with the opportunity to take and store high resolution digital photographs of your retina.
As with many diseases, in the very early stages of most eye disorders there are often no symptoms to indicate some thing may be wrong. However, subtle changes in cell colour, structure and blood supply can be used as an indication for further investigation.
With our new retinal imaging cameras we can store the images taken and then recall them at your next visit. Viewing old and new pictures together gives us a far better idea of any changes in your retina than relying on traditional methods of examination.
We often employ retinal imaging along side other tests such as intra ocular pressure and field assessments to better understand what action is required. Your retinal images are stored in secure storage facility and should you wish we can provide you with a copy of the images in print or digitally.
As part of the national NHS diabetic retinal screening program, our practices in Devon provide routine retinal imaging for every diabetic client.
Diabetic Retinal Screening Centre Crownhill
Diabetic Retinla Screening Centre Plympton
Early diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy is improved greatly with this technique allowing referral and treatment to begin far earlier than in the past.
