Sudden loss/distortion/changes in your vision
-
Sudden shadow or cob-web effect across your vision
-
Sudden flashes or floaters

What happens during an emergency eyecare appointment?
At NHK Opticians, our qualified optometrists will ask questions and exam your eyes/check you vision. We may decide to carry out additional imaging scans to assist us in diagnosing the cause of your condition. We may also need to dilate your pupils using special eye drops to better see inside your eyes, which means you should not drive to an emergency eyecare appointment.
We offer both NHS-funded and private emergency eyecare appointments
NHS Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS)

To qualify for an NHS funded Minor Eye Conditions Service emergency appointment, you will initially be assessed over the phone to confirm your symptoms meet the NHS emergency criteria and to decide how quickly you should be seen.
Demand for these appointments is currently very high. You may need to travel outside your area to be seen.
If we are unable to see you in the prescribed time period, you will be directed to another participating practice.
