Working to reduce our carbon footprint . . .

Like many organisations, we are constantly working to reduce our carbon footprint and do our part towards net zero targets.

Eyewear recycling

You can to recycle your old spectacles and cases at any of our practices.

Unlike previous providers who attempted to reuse spectacles, our affiliate recycles and repurposes the materials.

We are members of the Acuvue Contact Lens Recycling Programme.

You can deposit your used contact lens blister packs for recycling at our Crownhill and Plympton practices.

Packaging re-use and re-purposing

Many eyecare products we offer require protective packaging during transit. We've developed internal systems that enable our practice teams to continuously reuse and repurpose this packaging as much as possible.

General recycling

We work with local commercial recycling companies to recycle larger packaging and plastics.

Eyewear re-use

We are one of only a handful of optical companies that allow patients to re-use their existing frames when a new prescription is required. This helps to reduce the environmental impact of the initial manufacturing.

Environmentally sustainable eyewear

We are delighted to stock several frame ranges manufactured from bio-based carbon-neutral and recycled materials.

We are also looking at suppliers of emerging new manufacturing technologies including the use of ocean-recovered plastics for spectacle and sunglass frames.

Energy

All our practices utilise low-energy LED retail lighting and our optical lab uses a unique water-recycling system

with our ophthalmic lens edging machines. We also source most of our energy from 100% renewable suppliers.

Using recycled materials

We are gradually switching all our printed materials to 100% recycled paper and board.
