Junior Eyecare
A child's vision is constantly developing during their formative years. Our junior appointments are not just about seeing if glasses may be required, but far more about checking their whole visual system is functioning as expected. We strongly recommend children have their first eye examination just before starting primary school.

Our mission is to ensure your child has the clarity of vision to live their formative years to the full.

Gentle Eye Examinations
Our junior eye examinations are both gentle and thorough. Our Optometrists will explain each step of the process and ensure your child feels at ease throughout the appointment. You'll want to know their eyes are working together normally and understand any prescription requirements they may have.
NHS funding
For children under 16 and young adults aged 16,17 or 18 who are still in full time education, we offer an Essential Sight Test that is fully funded by the NHS. For children with underlying health conditions and/or complex prescriptions, we recommend parents consider upgrading this appointment to our Enhanced Eye Exam. This provides a longer appointment, Fundus Photography and more time to explain your child's results. This appointment is not fully funded by the NHS. See our "Optometry Page" for more details. The NHS also provide assistance towards the basic costs of glasses, if a prescription is required.
We offer so much more than just sight tests for your child . . .
Enhanced Eye Exams
For children and young adults with underlying health conditions and/or a complex prescription, our Enhanced Eye Exam provides a longer appointment with more time to discuss your child's results. It also incudes Fundus Photography and any other additional diagnostic tests for colour perception or squint, as required. Enhanced Eye Exams are not fully funded by the NHS.
Contact Lenses
Our first-time contact trials are gentle and include everything required to get them started. We first start with a suitability assessment to ensure younger wearers are suitable and able to wear lenses. We generally recommend daily disposable lenses as they require no cleaning and are ideal for activities like sport.
Eyewear options for your child . . .

Designed for Young Faces
Our junior frames are designed specifically to fit young facial features. This ensures they are comfortable and allow for a little growing room. Our qualified Dispensing Opticians carefully guide you and your child through the frame selection process, ensuring the frame is the correct size and bridge fitting.

Free Second Pair of Lenses
Although NHS only contribute towards one pair of glasses, we know that most parents like their child to have a spare pair. So when you order one pair of complete glasses for your child, we'll give them a second pair of clear single vision lenses.

Sun Protection
Our junior frames can also be made up as sunglasses. Lenses include 100% protection from harmful UV and a choice of tint colours and coatings. With our free second pair of lenses for children, it's an ideal opportunity to ensure your child's eyes are fully protected from bright sunlight and UV.

Clarity In The Pool
Our extensive range of prescription swimming goggles are available in ready made or full prescription and come in a wide variety of sizes and colours. Ideal when you have trouble keeping them out of the water.
